Oh for God's Sake!

Ok- here's my personal bitch for the week! Political cantidates, take note (as I'm sure MANY of you read our blog): please, please, PLEASE stop with the Christian values talk!!! If I hear one more of you talk about how you take your family to church EVERY Sunday, then take your boys hunting (how straight and manly of you) and then "fix things" in your shop, my head will explode! Seriously! In case you've FORGOTTEN, you are running for PUBLIC OFFICE, not Deacon of the Backwoods Church of Jay-sus!

I get it! We all get it! You're a good person! We can trust you! You'll "do the right thing"! Here's what you don't get: your church attendance, or (GASP) lack of, will NOT get my vote. Here's what will. What if you just simply said, "I went to this college, I successfully ran this company, I corrected this financial situation, I can manage people. My record of professional achievement shows that I'm intelligent, level headed, and practical. Read and learn about me. If I seem competent, I'd like your vote. Thanks."

In my experience, those who talk about how holy they are seem to be the least Christian people you can imagine! If that's genuinely your lifestyle, it tends to show for itself. And again, being religious has NOTHING to do with running an administration. If you're a Wiccan High Priest but you can lower taxes, end the war, solve immigration, and improve education, you've got my vote! Track records and vision- that's what will sway me!

If my public officials can be BOTH great leaders and great Christians, then FANTASTIC! I'm not against religion in ANY way. But, if that's all you've got, your supposed "values", forget it. You'd better bring your A game along with that Bible- after all, the Lord helps those that help themselves!

I saw that commercial. I agree, just because you're a good parent, husband, church-goes doesn't make you a good employee...it should have some to do with it....but sadly, it doesn't always. Numbers, people. Give us numbers, they don't lie!

You know, there are people in your life that you run across that say things to you that you'll never forget.

Even though, I'm no longer recognized as a member in my former church, I do remain in contact with some of the members I was close to.

One lady in that church taught me so much about God and Christian values, more than any preacher has ever taught me.

I'll never forget one day following my baptism, she said, "Christopher you're a born-again Christian now. From now on, you'll be able to recognize a fellow Christian. They will put off a glow, an undeniable aura that can only be recognized by a true Christian."

Never in my life did I think that would be true, but it is.

You're right Truvie, those qualities usually speak for themselves and do NOT need to be spoken about. Unfortunately, knowing some of the candidates personally, I've developed my own opinions. At this point, I'm voting for the lesser of the two evils in almost all races.

Especially the gubernatorial race.

Wonder how the Christians will fare?

I'm voting for the lesser of two evils, too! Will be interesting to say the least! Thanks, Chris!
